!Help for !dmp2spr 0.01
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What is it?
-----------
dmp2spr is a simple utility that takes the 'dump/txt' text files
produced by Angband (the '(' and ')' commands) and turns them into sprites.
This may seem silly, (it does now, somehow when I started writing it it
was of earth-shattering importance :-), but if you really want your
screen dumps displayed/printed, A. in colour and B. in the system font
then this is the utility for you. If not, you know how to get at Delete
in the filer's menus :-)
How do I use it?
----------------
Still with me? Okay, load !dmp2spr in the usual way. An icon
will appear on the iconbar. If you drag the dump/txt file to it, there
will be a flurry of activity culminating in a save-as box appearing.
Drag the icon to wherever you want to save the sprite. That's it.
Problems
--------
The filer must have seen !Angband before !dmp2spr will be able to
create the sprite. This is because !dmp2spr needs to examine the choices
file saved by Angband to work out the palette to use for the sprite.
At the moment, the Wimp front-end is so abyssmally simple that you
can't drag the icon to an application, or simply view the sprite. This may
change - drop me an e-mail if you want something better. Frankly, I don't
think anyone will ever use this program, so improvements will only be made
if someone requests them.
!dmp2Spr only understands the format dump/txt files produced by
Angband 2.7.9. 2.7.8 used a different format. If you're using 2.7.8,
upgrade now - it's *very* worthwhile, Kevin Bracey has made an excellent
job of porting 2.7.9 to Risc OS.
